HYMAX GRIP SwivelJoint can connect and restrain two pipes at any angle from 0° to 90°, providing an efficient solution for field situations involving irregular angles between pipes. The product can do the job of multiple products that would otherwise be needed, saving space on the truck and time in the ditch.
Based on Hymax’s market-leading HYMAX GRIP restraint, this wide-range, stab-fit product is ready to use to enable faster and safer installation. Like all HYMAX GRIP products, the SwivelJoint’s radial gripping system prevents pipe motion with universal gripping teeth that fit metal and plastic pipes. HYMAX GRIP SwivelJoint’s patented hydraulic pressure-assisted gasket inflates with increasing water pressure, which allows for dynamic deflection of up to 3° on each side, and reduces the risk of future pipe damage due to ground shifts and temperature changes. The product is made of lightweight construction for easy installation and handling with minimal manpower.
Considering its capacity to join pipes at any angle, its stab-fit design, and light weight, the SwivelJoint is an ideal restraint solution that allows crews to go into the ditch, make the repair quickly, and go home safely.
The SwivelJoint was engineered and designed by Lalo Hymax, one of his last projects but one of his best! Lalo passed away in 2016.
Lalo realized the need for a SwivelJoint, a way to repair or correct changes in pipe direction that weren’t the traditional 45° or 90° turns. He also realized that with these type of changes in direction the SwivelJoint would need to be a restraint as well.
Lalo and Avi Chiproot, head engineer at Hymax, came together and designed what is probably the most revolutionary product that has come to the water and wastewater industry in recent years! The HYMAX GRIP SwivelJoint is a ductile iron (DI) restraint product that also utilizes the patented hydraulically assisted gasket. The gasket, an EPDM gasket, offers 4° of deflection on each end. The center SwivelJoint allows for installation at an angle from 0° to 90°! It is currently available in sizes 4”, 6” and 8”.
The GRIP restraint allows you to install and repair without the time and expense involved in building a thrust block or rodding. The pressure rating for the SwivelJoint is a whopping 260 psi!
All the best,
